M ay 2 00 8 WIGNER FUNCTIONS AND STOCHASTICALLY PERTURBED LATTICE DYNAMICS
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider lattice dynamics with a small stochastic perturbation of order ε and prove that for a space-time scale of order ε the Wigner function evolves according to a linear transport equation describing inelastic collisions. For an energy and momentum conserving chain the transport equation predicts a slow decay, as 1/ √ t, for the energy current correlation in equilibrium. This is in agreement with previous studies using a different method.

Coarsening in Stochastically Perturbed Ginzburg-landau-type Equations and Statistical Studies of the Potts Model
This work is devoted to the statistical description of certain stochastic partial differential equations (PDEs) which exhibit the so-called phase separation dynamics. In particular we consider the randomly perturbed scalar Ginzburg-Landau (or Allen-Cahn) equation (1.1) and the Cahn-Hilliard equation (1.2). Deterministic dynamics of these systems in certain asymptotic limits is quickly attracted...
متن کاملTightness for a Stochastic Allen–cahn Equation
We study an Allen–Cahn equation perturbed by a multiplicative stochastic noise that is white in time and correlated in space. Formally this equation approximates a stochastically forced mean curvature flow. We derive a uniform bound for the diffuse surface area, prove the tightness of solutions in the sharp interface limit, and show the convergence to phase-indicator functions.

متن کاملA comparative study of the centroid and ring-polymer molecular dynamics methods for approximating quantum time correlation functions from path integrals.
The problems of ergodicity and internal consistency in the centroid and ring-polymer molecular dynamics methods are addressed in the context of a comparative study of the two methods. Enhanced sampling in ring-polymer molecular dynamics (RPMD) is achieved by first performing an equilibrium path integral calculation and then launching RPMD trajectories from selected, stochastically independent e...
متن کاملStochastic analysis of neutrally stratified cirrus layer
Two cirrus cloud systems observed during the winter of 2001 at the Southern Great Plains site of the Atmospheric Radiation Measurements program in Oklahoma, USA are studied because of the distinct neutrally stratified layers formed within the clouds. Observations are obtained with 35GHz millimeter-wave radar and backscattering cross-section ZðtÞ signals within radar-reflectivity restricted subl...
